THE DISCOVERY CALL

The purpose of the offered 30 min discovery call:

This is a short, free-of-charge call where you and the coach can begin to get to know each other and make sure there is a right fit for the two of you to work together. The coach will ask you to explain your present situation, current frustrations and thoughts.

It’s  the opportunity to seek answers to any questions that you may have and also to plan for any next steps.

What to ask the coach during a discovery call:

The 30-minute discovery call is not a coaching session. It’s a space offered by the coach so that the two of you can get to know each other and to plan potential next steps. You can ask any questions that come to mind concerning the Outplace Yourself methodology, the coaching sessions, preparation between the sessions, payment or indeed anything else. The coach will appreciate if you give him/her some background on your personal and professional situation and share some of your frustrations and thoughts.

At the end of the session, some will have already made their decision and will register immediately, others may need more time before taking a step forward. We are all different and that’s fine with us.

How to know if there’s a good match?

In coaching, the relationship between coach and client is key. Of course, a relationship can evolve over time. Trust, willingness and ease to open up to someone always grows over time.  However, all of us can make immediate judgements about other people on first meeting. We encourage you to use this talent and rely on your intuition and to also to yourself the following questions:

  • How good do/did I feel?
  • How agreeable is/was this discussion?
  • Would I be pleased to spend more time with this person?
  • Do/did I feel this person could challenge me?
  • Do/did I feel he/she was able to welcome my fears and hesitations, the ones I do not even want to see myself?

Make your decision based on your impression of the 30-minute call and answers to these questions that you have come to.
